Srinagar, Mar 16: The dairy sector is witnessing a boost in district Bandipora with more and more youngsters coming out to involve themselves in the sector while the milk production of the district has also witnessed an increase.
One such example is that of Tahir Ahmad Rather, hailing from the Mader area of Bandipora who started his dairy farm after taking due benefits from the Government schemes in 2020 and since then he is witnessing quite growth.
“I started my dairy farm in 2020 and with the help of the administration and the concerned departments, my business venture is witnessing growth,” Tahir said.
As of now, Tahir has got 8 cows that are producing over 90 litres of milk per day and the same is then distributed across the district with an aim of catering to the needs of the people in the district.
He uses the latest technology in milking the cows and for that, he uses different kinds of machines, the usage of which saves a lot of his time and also increases productivity.
In his message to the youth who are suffering due to unemployment, Tahir said that the dairy sector has great potential and that more and more youth should make their entry into the sector to become job-givers.
Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad told Excelsior that there are 37 total beneficiaries of the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme in the district and that the administration is doing everything to facilitate the educated youth in taking the benefits of the schemes and becoming financially independent.
“Today, the production capacity of the district has increased to 2800 litres per day which is a good number and is expected to increase further. The youngsters are coming out and are not only creating employment avenues for themselves but are also generating employment for others, which is a good sign,” he said.
Suhail Ahmad, who is a distributor of the milk which is produced at Tahir’s dairy farm, said that he has been benefitted as well from the establishment of the dairy farm from which the milk is distributed across the district, particularly the hotels.
