Young woman raped in Akalpur, accused yet to be apprehended

JAMMU, May 4: Police are yet to arrest two accused who allegedly raped a young woman in Akalpur area of Jammu District falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Domana.
The victim, a resident of Rehari area of Jammu District, was allegedly raped by two people on April 7, 2024.
As per reports, the victim was travelling from Rehari to Akalpur area to attend a function at her friend’s place when she was offered lift by one Rajat Kumar son of Kewal Kumar of Jaswan, whom she knew personally. This person then took her to an unknown place and committed rape on her along with an unidentified person.
The duo was booked in case FIR number 106/2024 under Section 376 of the IPC registered at Police Station Domana only after the victim approached the court to direct the police for registering an FIR against them.
“The accused have not been arrested yet,” said a police officer. Asked whether the statements of the victim under CrPC 164 have been recorded, he said, “It will be done in a day or two.”
