Young woman jumps into river, breaks legs

SURANKOTE, Sept 5: A  young woman tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river, near Behramgalla in Bafliaz area of Surankote on Mughal Road in district Poonch today but she was rescued by the villagers.
The woman with broken legs and  multiple injuries was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Surankote  and later referred to district hospital, Rajouri. She has been identified as Shazia Kouser (20), wife of Mohammed Tufail, resident of Behramgalla.
A police spokesman said that the woman reportedly after some tiff with the family members, in a fit of anger, moved to the river site and jumped into it during the day. Some people noticed her action and they rushed there and rescued the woman and then informed the family. Later, she was rushed to Surankote hospital.
The doctors and other para-medical staff provided preliminary treatment there and then referred her to District Hospital, Rajouri.  She has received fractures in legs and multiple injuries on her body.
SDPO, Surankote, Asgar Malik when contacted said that woman has been saved by the locals of the area. She was further referred to Rajouri from Surankote hospital. She has not yet revealed the actual reason behind this extreme step but some inputs gathered so far have indicated that there was some tiff at home over some domestic issue. The police has registered a case and further investigation was in progress, Malik said.
