UDHAMPUR, July 18: A young man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence here last night.
According to Police, 28 -year-old Kali Dass, son of Vishba Nath, resident of Omara Morh in Udhampur town, consumed some poisonous substance last night. The family members noticed him in serious condition and rushed him to District Hospital. The doctors washed his stomach but he did not respond to the treatment and died after some time.
The police after completion of all the formalities and postmortem, handed over the body to family members.
Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, in a road mishap late last night, a pedestrian was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Dhar road, outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
The victim, identified as Madan Lal (28), son of Sita Ram of Maildi, Battal Ballian Udhampur, was brought to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition.
