SRINAGAR, Oct 1: A young journalist today died of cardiac arrest while he was on his way to Srinagar from his residence in north Kashmir, leaving the media fraternity in utter shock.
The family said that Javid Ahmad left his home in Watergam, Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to attend his office in Srinagar on Thursday morning, but, when he reached near Pattan, he suddenly developed chest pain and fell unconscious.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility where doctors declared him brought dead.
Doctors said that the cause of death was a massive heart attack.
Javid was an accredited journalist and was working with Srinagar based English daily newspaper Rising Kashmir as a senior correspondent. He had recently got married and before joining Rising Kashmir, he was associated with The Tribune.
His sudden and untimely death is being widely mourned and various media and social organizations have expressed their shock and grief on his death.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), Kashmir Editors Guild and Kashmir Press Club expressed condolences on his sudden demise.
