MENDHAR, Feb 17: A young girl was attacked with an axe by a youth at village Ucchad in Mankote area of Mendhar Sub Division in district Poonch last night.
A police spokesman said that Zahida Parveen, daughter of Mohd Rashid, resident of Ucchad went to see their cattle at nearby cattle shed, then the accused Nazeem Khan, son of Mohd Latief of the same village allegedly attacked with an axe on her shoulder and escaped after she cried for help. The family members alleged that this youth was teasing the girl for the last few days and asking for her Mobile phone number. The girl did not respond and later shared the matter with the family. The boy got irked and threatened the girl.
The girl was rushed to Mankote hospital where medical staff referred her to SDH Mendhar as she had received deep stab wound. The police registered a case and started manhunt for the absconding youth.
