KATHUA, July 12: The elections for key posts of the Bar Association Kathua were held smoothly and peacefully today, with a strong voter turnout.
The polls were held under the supervision of Chief Returning Officer Dilawar Singh, Returning Officer Rakesh Sharma, and Advocate Pawandeep Singh.
Out of 218 registered voters, 215 members cast their votes for each post.
Advocate YC Katoch won the post of President by securing 122 votes, defeating Advocate Anil Kalotra, who received 93 votes.
The position of General Secretary was secured by Advocate Abhishek Khajuria with 129 votes, defeating Advocate Pankaj Gupta.
For the post of Joint Secretary, Advocate Adarsh Kumar emerged victorious with 135 votes, while his rival Advocate Vipan Kumar got 80 votes.
Meanwhile, Vikas Kant Gupta was elected unopposed as Vice President, and Munish Mahajan was elected unopposed as Treasurer.
After the completion of counting, the certificates of election were handed over to all the winning candidates.
The Bar Association thanked its members for their enthusiastic participation and cooperation, which contributed to the successful and disciplined conduct of the election.
