JAMMU, Mar 11: Pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji has crossed 11 lakh this year so far recording an increase of about 2.55 lakh over corresponding period last year notwithstanding Coronavirus scare.
Ramesh Kumar, CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) told the Excelsior that till yesterday 10.95 lakh pilgrims had performed darshan at the holy cave shrine this year as compared to 8.4 lakh during the same period last year.
Today, the yatra crossed 11 lakh.

Kumar said there was an increase of 2.55 lakh in the pilgrimage this year as compared to the corresponding period last year.
In January this year, 5.12 lakh yatris performed darshan of Goddess Vaishno Devi while the number was 5.01 lakh last year for the same month recording an increase of over 10,000. In February, 3.96 pilgrims had darshan while the figure last year was 2.69 lakh, an increase of about 1.25 lakh.
Till March 9 this month, 1.61 lakh yatris visited the shrine as against 59,941 last year, an increase of 1.01 lakh.
However, despite Coronavirus scare, the yatra to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is progressing smoothly.
