JAMMU, July 4: Though yatri remained suspended today via Baltal track due to inclement weather and slippery route, it continued via traditional Pahalgam Chandanwari track and 5,563 pilgrims performed darshan in holy cave on seventh day of yatra today.
According to an official spokesman, the Yatra remained suspended from shortest Baltal route due to inclement weather and rains during the first half of the day while yatra continued from Pahalgam -Chandanwari track.
He said so far 76,063 pilgrims have performed darshan in cave shrine situated at an altitude of 14000 feet in the deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
The spokesman said that Medical and Rescue Patrol Team of SDRF rescued a body of 47 year old lady from Mumbai who was declared dead yesterday at Sheshnag and her body was shifted to base camp Chandanwari. The lady yatri who was identified as Anita wife of Ajay of Mumbai who was registered under No 046442 was declared dead at Sheshnag and after wrapping in a red blanket she was brought to Chandanwari. But the medical and Rescue Patrol team of SDRF covering the area from Chandanwari to Pissu Top examined the body and discovered the feeble pulse. They immediately untied the body and used (CPR) Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation technique to revive the body. Simultaneously, they administered oxygen after which lady regained her breathing. The lady was taken to camp hospital and subsequently she was referred to District Hospital Anantnag where her condition is stated to be stable.
Helicopter service to holy Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir resumed from Baltal this afternoon after remaining suspended due to rains and bad weather. The helicopter service was suspended from Baltal base camp this morning following heavy rains and bad weather. However, the service was resumed following improvement in the weather, officials said, adding yatra through 14-km track remained suspended because of slippery conditions. Yatra from traditional Pahalgam route was going on smoothly.
Meanwhile, forty three Amarnath bound pilgrims were injured in three different road accidents in Kashmir Valley and Jammu region today.
According to reports 15 Amarnath pilgrims were among 38 people injured in two road accidents in the Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said here today.
They said a bus overturned at Dangerpora Sumbal resulting in injuries to 33 passengers, including 10 Amarnath pilgrims.
The injured were immediately shifted to hospital, they said.
Sources said in another similar incident, a vehicle carrying pilgrims also overturned at Wanjipora Sumbal resulting in injuries to five yatries.
The injured were admitted to hospital, they said.
Seven women among 28 Amarnath pilgrims were injured when a truck, skidded off the road near Dogra Morh Kud National Highway in district Udhampur today.
According to reports a truck bearing registration No. UP78AN-4509 carrying Amarnath pilgrims was on way from Uttar Pradesh to holy cave when driver of the vehicle lost control and skidded off the road near Dogra Morh Kud in district Udhampur on National Highway about 9:30 am this morning.
The injured pilgrims were identified as Raksha Yadav (23),Gotam Tiwari (23), Sumit (21), Pawan Yadav (22) Pram Basi (52), Prakash Rathore (21), Monu Varma (31), Radhey Sham (22), Ravi Shanker (24) son of Rajender Prasad Gupta, Ram Nebas son of Puri Goswami, Surash Chand (28) son of Ram Kumar, Ram Parkash son of Ganesh Prashad Rathor, Amit Kumar (23) son of Puran Lal, Nirotam son of Ram Chander Lal, Amit Tiwari (31), son of Uma Kant, Aksh, son of Mahysh Sksana, Sanjeev Yadhav (31) son of Lakshman Singh, Sukh Rani (22) wife of Ajeet Kumar, Guddi (21) wife of Radhe Sham, Rucha Yadhav (23) wife of Sanjay, Hama (21) daughter Agnash, All of Bancal Pur district Pili Pith Uttar Pradesh and Rakha (35) wife of Sabarn Singh, Devi (35) Joginder Yadhav, Sham Lal (45) son of Nathu Lal, Banu Sharma (23) son of Sham Lal, Rajender Kumar (34) son of Glasi All of district Bareli Uttar Pradesh. Kud Police has registered a case and started the investigation.
Meanwhile, 2234 left for holy cave from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas under tight security early this morning. They included 1538 male, 447 female, 48 children 200 Sadhus. They left in a cavalcade of 66 vehicles. The rush of yatris is increasing with hundreds of pilgrims reporting at registration counters daily for their registration for the pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath Ji.
