NEW DELHI, Feb 24:
The registration of pilgrims for this year’s annual yatra to the Himalayan cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir will start from March 1.
“The registration for the Yatra 2015, through selected bank branches will begin from March 1. The yatra will commence on July 2, 2015, through both routes Baltal and Pahalgam and conclude on August 29,” according to a statement issued by Union Ministry of Culture.
Nobody shall be allowed to undertake the yatra without permit which is valid for the days and route in question and a pilgrim can secure his/her yatra permit through selected bank branches (87 of J&K Bank, 305 of Punjab National bank and 38 of YES Bank) located in various States, it said.
An intending pilgrim shall have to submit filled in prescribed application form and compulsory health certificate issued by the authorised doctor/reputed private medical institutions for obtaining a permit through a designated bank.
The state-wise lists of doctors authorised to issue the prescribed certificates are available at Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board’s website.
The pilgrims will be required to pay Rs 50 as registration fee.
“The ones travelling by helicopter will not be required to separately register but will be required to submit the prescribed health certificate at the time of boarding,” it said. (PTI)
