YAIKS warns Govt against putting package employees to risk

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 20: Expressing concern over rising COVID cases, which killed millions globally, president Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS), R K Bhat has expressed surprise over the directives given by Education Department to PM package and non package displaced employees to join their duties in Valley who have no accommodation facilities there.
Bhat, who is also coordinator North India GKPD, said that for last 10 years the Government has miserably failed to rehabilitate and protect the fundamental rights of Valley posted migrant employees, putting a question mark on its move regarding the return of whole community. The various employees working under PM’s rehabilitation scheme in Kashmir Valley are putting up in different overcrowded transit accommodations on sharing basis and some are staying on rented accommodation outside the camp locations. It is pertinent to mention here that in a single set accommodation given by the Government to these hapless employees, 8-10 persons are living together including new born babies, school going children, ladies and old aged ailing parents, sharing common kitchen, common washroom and other surroundings. Due to lack of independent accommodation for various employees the situation for them is worrisome and all time risky under present pandemics. In this situation, it’s not possible for them to maintain COVID-19 SOPs and they are feeling highly vulnerable, unhygienic and unsafe.
YAIKS, which is working for the welfare of displaced Kashmiris in general and for the Valley posted migrant employees in particular appealed the Advisor to Lt. Governor, K K Sharma that Government should not compel these hapless employees to join their duties in Valley under the prevailing alarming situation.
Under such circumstances, the authorities are requested not to force such employees of Education Department to resume their duties till the pandemic is over and they may be allowed to continue with the ongoing online classes from Jammu till the situation gets improved, Bhat said.
