JAMMU, Oct 9: Accusing the successive State and Central Governments of their total failure in rehabilitating the displaced Pandits in Kashmir valley, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS), said that it is a shame that the community lives refugees’ life for over last 25 years now.
Talking to reporters here today, he alleged that the successive Governments have failed to rehabilitate them. Being the nationalist people the Pandits have been hounded out from their motherland and no serious steps were taken by the Government for rehabilitating them back in Kashmir and protect the fundamental rights of the community.
Bhat said that it is unfortunate that in a developing country like India which is the largest democracy of the world a microscopic minority, a peace loving and nationalist community is leading an exiled life for over last 25 years and no concrete steps are being taken for their return to their homes and hearts.
Alleging that there is no political will on the part of the Government for the permanent rehabilitation of the community, he asked for how long community will lead the exiled life? He said the Government has sent feelers of rehabilitation package but has failed to frame a blue print in this regard till date.
Bhat said that funds have been raised on the name of the community but they were totally misused and the package announced in 2008 has not been implemented till date.
This shows that the Government is not concerned for the displaced Pandits who want restoration of their right to live with honour and dignity in their native place. But Government has failed to restore the same, he added.
He however said that the community has pinned high hopes in present Union Government led by Narendra Modi who is the first and last hope for the community.
He said for restoration of the rights of the displaced Pandits, the YAIKS will take out a Rath Yatra titled “Akhir Kab Tak” on October 18 this year from its Headquaters Muthi here to New Delhi. It will pass from various states like Punjab, Haryana and UT or Chandigarh. The activists of organization will pay obeisance to Father of  Nation, Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat and continue its struggle in Union Capital till the demand is met.
He warned in case Government failed to solve the issue the YAIKS will launch agitation and Government will be responsible for all consequences.
Sunil Koul, B K Bhat, Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo, Deepak Koul, Ravinder Sharma, Ajay Safaya, D N Bhat and others were present in the press conference.
