Writers of erstwhile Doda raise issues

DODA, Mar 2: A meeting of core committee of different languages of erstwhile Doda was held on virtual mode and discussed different issues pertaining to the pool of writers created by the committee.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Majeed Bichoo, Abdul Khaliq and Dr. Javed Katoch-patrons of core committee.
Speaking on the occasion Sadaket Malik, committee president said that committee consists of more than 150 writers from Pogal, Bhalessa, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Ramban, Banihal, Saraz and Padder who sought financial assistance for publication of their manuscripts and were suggested to follow procedures of schemes initiated by JKAACL, NCPUL and CIIL, Mysore.
“The indigenous language movement submitted a reminder letter to JKAACL, JKBOSE and CIIL Mysore regarding the matter which in turn approached our organization for publication of certain books in local languages and financial aid for the same,” Malik said.
Abdul Latief Bulbul, president Pogali Bazm-i-Adab said since 2009 the writers are unable to get any assistance.
The meeting also focused on the decision of LG on these languages and creation of separate cultural centre for them.
The committee reviewed its stand on pending JKBOSE proposal for content creation.
Malik said that the proposal for the documentation of Siram (spoken in Banihal), Khash (spoken in Sarsi village Doda) and Mishabi (Khasali) spoken in Malhori area was taken up and approved by CIIL Mysore and the work is going on it in full swing.
Proceedings of the meeting were convened by Ashraf Katoch, general secretary.
Others who spoke include Thakur Uttam Singh, Arshad Jhangir, Navid Anjum, Saqlain Ghani and Irshad Ahmed.
