Writers’ Forum releases ‘Maa’, ‘Joginder Singh Pandhvi: Jivan Te Rachna’

JAMMU, Nov 25: A book function was organized today by Writers’ Forum, Jammu here at K L Saigal Hall to release two books—‘Maa’ and ‘Joginder Singh Pandhvi: Jivan Te Rachna’.
Didar Singh, a well known Punjabi and Hindi short story writer of J&K, presided over the function. Surinder Seerat was the chief guest on the occasion. Pritpal Singh Betab, an Urdu Ghazal writer, Joginder Singh Pandhi, a Kashmir based Punjabi writer/poet and Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, also shared the dais.
A novel titled ‘Maa’ written by Joginder Singh Pandhvi and a book based on articles by various writers on Joginder Singh Pandhvi and his literature, titled ‘Joginder Singh Pandhvi: Jivan Te Rachna’, which is compiled and edited by Popinder Singh Paras and Kalakaar Vishesh Ank on Joginder Singh Pandhvi, were released on the occasion.
Papers based on the content and expressions in the writings included in the released books were read out in the function by Dr Pritam Singh of Jammu University and Prof Jagir Singh Noor from Punjab.
The plot of the novel revolves around the tragic events with the Kashmiri Sikhs during 1947 partition era. According to Kanwal Kashmiri, the Chinar is the central symbol of the play and the theme is woven around the environment of Jhelum River and dealing with the life and culture of Kashmir. According to him it’s a fictionalized documentation of that period.
Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, Didar Singh, Pritpal Singh Betab, Surinder Singh Seerat, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Kanwal Kashmiri and Devinder Singh Shaan Kashmiri also expressed their views on the books released in the function.
The programme was conducted by Popinder Singh Paras whereas the vote of thanks was extended by Dr Sudhir Mahajan from Writers’ Forum, Jammu.
