JAMMU: Writers are the ambassadors of State‘s rich culture and heritage and the government recognises the vital contribution of writers in preserving the regional languages of the state.
The Minister of State for Education, Tourism and Culture, Priya Sethi stated this during her visit to the proposed site for Writer’s club in the premises of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Abhinav Theatre here today.
“Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is lending her full support to every initative taken for the welfare of the writers and artists that will play a decisive role in promoting the rich culture and heritage of the state”,said the Minister
Priya said the initiative, which is a key commitment by the government to the writers community will provide a common place to the literary artists to discuss for cultural advancements in the state.
It’s was a long pending demand and requirement of the Jammu region and can be seen as a very positive step for the writers’ community, she added.
Lauding the role of writers, the Minister said that the writers have an important role to play in preserving and promoting the regional languages. She said the government is committed to work for the welfare of the people associated in preserving the local culture and languages and called for collective efforts by the writers ,artists and concerned agencies to take regional languages across the globe.
Laying stress on improving facilities and overall aesthetics in and around the premises of the academy, the Minister instructed the concerned department to take concerted steps for improving facilities and beautification of the venues on the theme of cultural centres and asked them to incorporate innovate ideas giving an essence of local cultures, traditions, art and languages.
In view of Writer’s Club project, the Minister asked the concerned officers and agencies for judiciously use of the resources and stressed on regular quality checks at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards.
To be constructed over a period of one year at an estimated cost of 3.91 cr , the Writer’s club will have a multipurpose hall with stage and green room ,two publication rooms, eating point area, library hall, painting display room, projector room besides administrative officer’s room and eight officer’s room .
Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Aziz Hajini, Addl. Secretary, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Chief Engineer, R&B, Sudhir Shah, SE R&B, Desh Raj Bhagat, XeN, U.K Sharma, AEE, Rajesh Sharma, AEEs Sanjay Sharma and Abhishek Khajuria besides officers of the concerned departments were present on the occasion.
