JAMMU, May 8: World Red Cross Day was celebrated as a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross Movement “Sir Henry Dunant”.
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region celebrated World Red Cross Day at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni as a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross Movement “Sir Henry Dunant”. The theme of the world Red Cross Day 2021 is “Unstoppable”.
The Red Cross Day function started with a flag hoisting ceremony by chief guest Divisional Commissioner cum Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Dr Raghav Langer, followed by Red Cross Pledge and Prayer by the gathering, members Indian Red Cross Society and Red Cross volunteers.
Floral Tributes were also paid to founder of Red Cross by Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Vinod Malhotra, Executive Members of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Anil Suri, Surinder Mahajan and SC Bali, Former Member, IRCS.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner visited the IRCS vaccination centre setup at Indian Red Cross Society premises from 8th February 2021. He expressed satisfaction over the working of the vaccination centre.
On the eve of World Red Cross Day, Army organised an awareness programme on the health and hygiene for the villagers of Sildhar in District Ramban. The resource persons while delivering the awareness lectures to the villagers advised them to maintain sanitation and cleanliness in and around their houses and acquire the habit of hygiene for their disease free good health. As many as 30 men, 20 women and 20 children were educated on the occasion.
To celebrate the World Red Cross Day 2021, Red Cross Society Kishtwar under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma who is also the Chairman Red Cross Society Kishtwar today distributed the relief material comprising of the eatable items and other daily utility material among the beneficiaries of the Bal Ashram Kishtwar.

DC Kishtwar who was the chief guest while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of District Red Cross society Kishtwar during COVID 19 pandemic.
Red Cross Society Udhampur celebrated World Red Cross Day. Rakesh Singh Senior Volunteer member of Udhampur Red Cross society and his team distributed masks and immunity boosters to various offices and public and appealed them to observe all SOPs while performing day to day and official works. Rakesh Singh also urged Director School Education Jammu to take necessary steps to activate Red Cross Clubs in different Government schools to spread message of humanity through schools among society specially in rural areas.
