World Population Day: Awareness rally organized at SDH Akhnoor

JAMMU, July 10: An awareness rally in connection with World Population Day was organized at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor.
The rally was flagged-off by Rajeev Sharma, MLA Akhnoor and Block Medical Officer, Akhnoor. A large number of FMPHW, ASHA workers, Anganwari workers, medical students and staff members of the hospital participated in the rally.
Rotary Club, Akhnoor also gave its full cooperation in organizing the rally. The rally covered the whole town and back to SDH Akhnoor. Refreshment was also provided to the participants by Rotary Club Akhnoor.
The main objective of the rally was to make general public aware about utilization of family planning methods and importance of small family. The slogan for this year was “Zimmedari Nibhao Plan Banao”.
Meanwhile, as per previous practice, under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan- a new initiative by Government of India, the special check up camps to provide at least one ANC checkup to pregnant women by Gynaecologist/ Doctor during 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy, were organized at SDH Akhnoor, CHC Akhnoor, CHC Jourian, PHC Mera Mandrian and PHC Sungal of Block Akhnoor where more than 230 pregnant ladies were checked by Gynaecologist/ Doctor and antenatal services including all investigations, Ultrasound, Lab Tests and other facilities provided free of cost to all pregnant ladies.
The camp was inaugurated by Rajeev Sharma, MLA Akhnoor, who also took a round of CHC Akhnoor and visited different sections like New OPD Complex, Emergency, Labour Room, Wards, etc. and directed Specialists and Medical Officers to provide free medicines to all patients under Free Drug policy of Government.
The whole programme was organized by Dr Vinod Kumar, Block Medical Officer, Akhnoor.
