UDHAMPUR, Nov 26: The World Heritage Week, organized by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Circle Srinagar, under the patronage of Vinod Singh Rawat, Superintendent Archaeologist, at Sheesh Mahal Ramnagar, concluded here with a colorful cultural programme by the local students.
Farooq Qazi, SDM Ramnagar was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the trophies and certificate among the winners who participated in quiz, painting, song, debate and dance competition.
SDM Ramnagar along with other staff members of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) flagged off the heritage walk from Ramnagar Palace to Samadhi of Rani of Raja Suchet Singh. More than 200 students from different school of Ramnagar along with 42 students of New Era Environmental School from Jammu along with faculty members participated in the heritage walk.
Dr Sonam Stanzin from Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) interacted with students and informed about the importance of heritage sites and architecture of the time which tells the existence of our old civilization.
Anil Paba, a freelance archaeologist, stressed on the need to preserve the monuments, which are very important for human progress. He also appealed to the students to preserve ancient culture and heritage as these are our national assets.
Lastly, Ashok Kundal from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) presented the vote of thanks. Naib Tehsildar Ramnagar, Prabha Jain, Director and Principal Maitree New era Environmental School, Jammu, Shashi Sharma, Principal Bikram Memorial High School, Jammu were also present on the occasion.
