JAMMU, June 3: With the aim to teach students theoretical and practical knowledge and for competent working around stoma, Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, near Chandigarh organized a workshop at Aryans Campus.
The chief guest of the session was Prof Bhupinder Kaur (former Principal, University, college of nursing, BFUHS, Faridkot, Punjab) while the keynote speakers were Jagdeep Singh (Enterostomal Therapist, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Sangrur) and Manjinder Kaur (Enterostomal Therapist, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Sangrur).
Prof Bhupinder Kaur while interacting said that Stoma care is a fundamental area of nursing practice that all registered nurses should have the competence to undertake. “Due to the increasing demand for good, effective stoma care, there are many courses and conferences focused on improving patient care and enhancing professional knowledge and skills,” added Kaur.
Later a lecture was given by Jagdeep and Manjinder. They also highlightedthat many of the core nursing skills in stoma care are carried out by healthcare assistants and carers, and the increasing demand for education in this area should be targeted not only at nurses, but also healthcare assistants and carers.
Nidhi Chopra, Principal, Aryans Institute of Nursing, also gave a presentation.
