JAMMU, June 5: The Directorate of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens, Jammu today organized a one-day workshop on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 at its premises located on Har Ki Poudi Road. The event was held under the chairmanship of Vivek Sharma, Director General, Floriculture, Parks & Gardens, Jammu.
On the occasion, the Director General shed light on the key provisions of the sexual harassment of women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (commonly known as the POSH Act). She emphasized its applicability and relevance to Government offices, especially for safeguarding the rights and dignity of female employees. Sharma educated the participants-including members of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and other attendees-on their rights under the Act.
A notable highlight of the session was the awareness regarding the recently launched upgraded version of the SHE-BOX (Sexual Harassment Electronic Box) portal. This platform now acts as a centralized repository to monitor data and track complaints under the POSH Act, 2013, and is currently live for public use.
Training for the ICC members was conducted by Gurneet Kour, Joint Director (Planning), Chairperson of the ICC at the Directorate. She underlined the critical need for creating a safe and respectful work environment for women and advocated for regular awareness and sensitization programs across departments.
