Workshop on Disaster Preparedness & Early Warnings organized at CUJ

JAMMU, Feb 24: The Department of Sociology and Social Work, Central University of Jammu in collaboration with Centre for Law and Development Policy and Human Welfare Voluntary Organisation of Srinagar, conducted a one day workshop on Disaster Preparedness and Early Warnings in CUJ.
The workshop was attended by 60 participants of M.A. Social Works and NSS Volunteers of Central University of Jammu.
The function was presided over by Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who stressed upon the role of youth in coming forward as volunteers whenever there is a catastrophe. Very meaningful insights over conflict sensitive disaster preparedness and gender framework in rehabilitation were provided by Shafat Ahmad, Dr. Zahid Ashraf, Iman ul Haq and Iqbal Bhat.
Prof. L.S. Gandhi Doss, Head Dept. of Social work, focussed upon psychological, physical and mental preparedness of the volunteers and psychosocial care. Dr. Nancy Mengi, Kulwinder Singh and Avinash Thappa also gave valuable contribution to the workshop.
