JAMMU, Mar 12: Three- day workshop and training on Conservation Techniques, concluded at Mubarak Mandi Complex, here today.
Zaffar Bhat, Secretary Tourism & Culture, J&K Government and Soujanya Sharma, Director Tourism, Jammu, were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively, in the valedictory function.
Zaffar Bhat explained that the Government has taken various steps to restore and conserve the cultural heritage of the State and steps have been initiated in this respect.  Soujanya explained the initiative of Department of Tourism for conservation of temples, forts, and palaces like Mubarak Mandi.
Earlier, closing ceremony started with the welcome address by S M Sawhney, convener, INTACH, Jammu Chapter.
An old video of Mubarak Mandi Palace was also shown to the participants followed by one heritage tour to Mubarak Mandi Complex where Prof Vasavada, HoD, Conservation Department, Ahmedabad University, Divya Gupta, Principal Director, Heritage Division, New Delhi and Prof Anita Billawaria, Director, Center For History & Culture of Jammu & Ladakh Region, explained the salient features of the Mubarak Mandi and conservation techniques to the participants.
On the occasion, `Documentation of heritage property along the Mughal route’ brochure was also released by Secretary Tourism and Culture.
Kuldeep Wahi, executive member INTACH presented the vote of thanks.
The event was organized by INTACH Heritage Academy, New Delhi and INTACH- Jammu Chapter in collaboration with `Center For History & Culture of Jammu & Ladakh Region’ and Department of Hotel & Tourism management, University of Jammu.
Other present on the occasion, included Naveen Piplani, Vijay Tandon, Ashraf, Superintendent Archives, Abhimanyu D S Billawaria, Anuradha Seth, Kripal Singh and Jagjeet Singh.
