JAMMU, Jan 4: Jammu East constituency Advocacy Worksh-op was organized by PHE Urban Circle Jammu to sensitize the allied departments regarding water, sanitation and  hygiene under the guidelines of National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Programme (NRDWP) at Company Bagh, Jammu.
The aim of conducting this workshop was  to create awareness among masses and sensitization of the allied departments for the conservation of water and preservation of water bodies.
MLA Jammu-East constituency,  Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. He  highlighted the need for conservation of water as well as the economic usage of drinking water. He further stressed that grass root level awareness was  required and we must make  every drop count.  “If actions for water  conservations are not taken today, it will spill disaster for all living beings in the near future,” the MLA  said and  stressed that  grass root level workers of PHE Department should identify and plug the leakages instantly. He  also  appealed to general  public to install float valves in their storage tanks to avoid wastage of water and  pay water charges bills on time.
Presentations were given by Health Department, Education Department, Agricultural Department, Central Water Commission Jammu, Central Ground Water Board Jammu and Er  P K Nanda  former Honorary Secretary IEI Jammu Local Centre.
Superintending Engineer PHE Mech. Urban Circle Jammu,  Er  Ajay Singh Wazir,  while speaking on the occasion,   stressed that the vision of NRDWP cannot be achieved fully without the coordination of all the allied departments and local communities. The new innovative strategies are to be devised so as to percolate the message on water, sanitation and hygiene to the general public, he added.
At the end of the programme,  vote of thanks was presented by Er  Mohinder Singh Manhas,  Technical Officer to Superintending Engineer, PHE Mech,   Urban Circle Jammu.
Others present on the occasion, included Er  Himesh Manchanda, Executive Engineer PHE City Ist Division Jammu and officers of allied departments beside this senior most retired Executive Engineers of PHE,  I&FC.
