KATRA, Nov 28: A three-day workshop on film-making was conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
The workshop was organized keeping in view the need for imparting the basic cinematographic skills among students as one of the basic skills for any technical graduate today. The main instructor, Tripurari Nath Tiwari – a freelance cinematographer and an emerging advertisement designer from Delhi and his team comprising of Govind Kumar Singh and Mithun Kumar, laid emphasis on converting concepts into script, technical aspects of shooting, cinematographic skills, editing and use of editing software, basic lighting techniques and adding music to films etc.
The participating students in the workshop were divided into three groups each comprising six students and they were assigned shooting on the ideas created and discussed in the training sessions. The teams worked throughout days and nights and the eagerness for learning among students was seen at its peak.
The instructors also sensitized students about the career opportunities in film-making in numerous fields such as event coverage, event campaigns, film-making for social cause, audio-visual content production, product promotion, advertisement designing, e-learning videos and academic content designing for online audio-visual learning etc. Apart from these fields, there is enormous scope in TV programs, YouTube channel, news channels, film-making for social media etc.
During the workshop, films already made by students were also screened. Dr V K Tripathi, president Board of Cultural Activities, presented vote of thanks during the valedictory session. It was resolved that regular follow-up sessions will be conducted at students’ level at regular intervals. Gaurav Jamwal, Siddhant Sharma, Abhishek Mahajan coordinated the workshop.
