Sir,
This is to bring in the notice of the Banking authorities that some Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are non-functional and these have compounded the problems of people further after high denomination currencies of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were demonitized by the Central Government.
To ease the rush of people at Bank counters, it is necessary that these ATMs are kept in running order on priority basis. The technical/teams/engineers dealing with ATMs should be directed to monitor the working of ATMs round the clocks. The guards deployed at ATMs should also be directed to inform the concerned authorities on working status of these machines.
People visiting ATMs feel disappointed when they find that the ATM is out of order or cashless. In these hard days it is essential that ATMs are taken care of regularly. Otherwise people will throng banks and precipitate crisis.
It is also urged that banks located in rural areas be stocked with sufficient cash to overcome shortage of money in these areas.
Yours etc…
