Srinagar, Aug 6: The temporary workers of the Fisheries Department today held a silent sit-in demanding regularization of their services and the release of their pending wages.
“Our families are suffering, our kids and so are we; the things are worse as of now due to the pandemic; our wages have not been released so far by the Government,” they said.
Athar Muzaffar Reshi, President All J&K Fisheries Employees Association said that the main aim of the sit-in was to impress upon the Government that there is a need of taking measures for the betterment of workers who have been working in the department for long now.
“All they have seen during this period are hardships; these employees have been facing difficulties for long now and today they wanted to apprise the Government of their issues. Their families are in trouble,” he said.
He said that the EJAC leadership has been raising the issues of wages and regularization with the Government. “We have been trying to get the issues resolved,” he said.
He said that the leadership met with the Government representatives. “They were assured by the Government that these issues will be taken care of,” he said.
The workers appealed to the Director Fisheries to play his role in resolving the issues faced by time especially, release of their pending wages and the regularization of their services.
