JAMMU, Aug 6: Various organizations and individuals have strongly condemned brutal killing of Sajad Ahmad Khandy, Sarpanch of Vessu-Qazigund in south Kashmir, who was shot dead by terrorists, this morning.
Condemning the incident, J&K Apni Party (JKAP) president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has observed that violence in any of its manifestations is not going to yield anything for the people except for death and destruction. “Today’s cowardly attack on a grassroot level representative has added to the fear psychosis among the Panchayat representatives and other political activists who witnessed three such attacks in the last 10 days,” he said while urging the Government to take serious cognizance of this incident.
Bukhari said the elements inimical to peace and prosperity in J&K should not be allowed to go scot free and the administration must identify and nab the culprits behind such attacks and book them under stringent laws. He also sought a thorough security review for Panchayat representatives and other vulnerable political workers who reside in more violence prone areas in J&K.
Senior Congress leader and former Legislator Mohd Amin Bhat and various other party leaders have strongly condemned the killing of BJP Sarpanch describing the incident as shameful and mindless act on the part of militants. They also condemned the attack on Arif Ahmad, BJP Panch of Akhran (Devsar) and prayed for his speedy recovery.
Congress leaders expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the loss of precious life in militant attack and urged the authorities to nab the killers of Sajad Ahmad Khanday for exemplary punishment. “The situation is extremely volatile in South and elsewhere in Kashmir in view of the rising attack on political person, the Govt must ensure protection to political persons irrespective of their party affiliation,” Mohd Amin Bhat said.
BJP State General Secretary and former MLC Vibodh Gupta strongly condemned the killing of Sarpanch Sajad Ahmed Khanday and came down heavily on the enemies of peace in Kashmir. He said that each and every BJP party worker in Kashmir is a brave messenger of peace and development and the whole party and nation stands behind these party workers. “These sacrifices of peace loving people will never go in vain and their every drop of blood will further strengthen the party in Kashmir,” he added and called upon the authorities to ensure complete safety of BJP party leaders and workers in Kashmir.
All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) president Anil Sharma, while holding Pakistan responsible for these cowardice attacks on innocent Panchayat members, demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should declare Pakistan as a “Terrorist State” and snap all diplomatic ties with it. Questioning the logic of having diplomatic ties with a terror state , the AJKPC Chief said: “When they are openly killing our innocent people, India should get the Pakistan embassy in New Delhi vacated and simultaneously our staff and High Commission from Islamabad be called back”.
National Chairman of the National Balmiki Sena, Raju Chandel said that killing of Sarpanch by terrorists was an act against the democracy. He urged the elected Panchayat representatives to follow the Government directions with regard to their safety and foil terrorists’ plans. “People of Jammu and Kashmir need to come together to fight against this terrorism,” he added.
National Awami United Party, national president Sandeep Singh strongly condemned the killing of BJP Sarpanch and appealed the Home Ministry of India to provide adequate security cover to all public representatives and take strict actions against the supporters of the terrorists. Lieutenant Governor administration should immediately compensate and provide all immediate support to the deceased family,” he added.
