Work to reclaim NC’s dominance in Srinagar: Omar

SRINAGAR, May 11: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah asked the party’s office bearers and activists from Srinagar to work day and night to reclaim the party’s dominance in Srinagar which was founded on the bedrock of a special political, social and cultural bond the party has shared with Srinagar and its people over decades.
Omar Abdullah said National Conference was founded in Srinagar from where historic struggles were fought by the party’s founding leaders under Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for the dignity and rights of people of the entire State.
“Successive National Conference Governments demonstrated their dedication and vision to cater to the evolving needs of our Capital City and our commitment towards Srinagar is and will remain unquestionable”, the NC Working President said while addressing a convention of the party’s District Committee, Block and Halqa Presidents of the party’s Parent and Youth Wings for Srinagar. The convention was also attended by NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and NC Srinagar District President Peer Mohammad Afaq.
“We have to be active and dynamic in holding the Government accountable and in highlighting all issues of public concern with alacrity. Within the organization we have to ensure that we improve where we need to and work like a team”, he added.
He also reviewed the functioning of the Party Headquarters and visited various party offices stationed at Nawa-e-Subha Complex including the Party’s Media Cell and the Party’s Provincial Youth Wing.
Omar passed instructions for augmenting the operations of the Media Cell and the Youth Wing and also inquired about the status of work on the party’s new website that is to be launched this month.
He was accompanied during his review of the functioning of the Central Office by NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu, NC District President Srinagar Peer Mohammad Afaq, Political Secretary to Working President, Tanvir Sadiq, NC provincial secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, provincial vice president Mushtaq Ahmad Guru, youth president Salman Ali Sagar, senior youth vice president Imran Nabi Dar besides various party leaders and office bearers of Kashmir province.
