JAMMU, June 24: State Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the successful initiatives taken by local police and administration in fight against drug abuse. Major operations by local police leading in seizures of huge quantity of narcotics has sent encouraging signal to thousands of families suffering because of drug abuse by its members.
State chief spokesperson of the party, Sunil Sethi said that drug abuse not only take the addict to hell but it drags his whole family there too. He asked police to work out nexus between narcotic smugglers and militants as there are reports suggesting use of narcotic money for funding militancy in the State .
Sunil Sethi, while appreciating the role of local police in taking strong action against narcotic smuggling and also taking action against abuse of pharmaceutical drugs by chemists, called upon public to provide credible information to police in fight against this menace which is draining the youth of State .
State chief spokesperson also asked parents of students particularly school going to keep an eye on activities of their wards in view of many incidents of drug being supplied to school going children for making them addicts. He said schools administrations are also required to provide vigil on this account not only in the school but in the vicinity of school .
Sunil Sethi also shared the concern about heightened criminal activities in the region including kidnapping for ransom and found its connect with drug abuse. He also noted that huge population of Rohingyas illegally staying in the region without verification and scrutiny is causing threat to security of region. He called upon State administration to push illegally staying persons out of sensitive State.
