DODA, July 12: The work on a vital bridge near Basti, on Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli-Pathankote highway in Doda sector has been going on in full swing.
A spokesman of the GREF (118 RCC), said that the upcoming new Basti bridge in Bhadarwah Sub Division for general traffic is a classic example of an engineering marvel. The work on the bridge is being executed under the supervision of Lt Col YK Gautam (OC) 118 RCC and Capt Sachit Sharma and OIC Rajesh Pandey.
The construction work of the Bridge project is going on in full swing and the credit of its construction goes to 118 RCC which while defying adverse environmental conditions in this mountainous region, is working day and night, he said.
Giving details the spokesman said that with an estimated construction cost of Rs 7.72 crores, the upcoming bridge has a span of 55 meters and the project is said to be a boon for travelers of diverse interests who wish to embark on an adventurous journey to Bhaderwah from adjoining Punjab and Himachal besides other parts of J&K.
Pertinently, the old bridge at the site is considered to have played an important role in linking destinations like, Bhaderwah, Bani, Basoli and Pathankot. The old bridge is being replaced by the new one utilising a whopping investment to bring forth an examplery engineering edifice, he added.
“There is a lot of tourism potential in Bhaderwah-Sarthal-Bani area and the tourism sector is construed to act as the main source for the people of this belt. Since the old single bridge has lived its life, the new one will help is improving connectivity to this picturesque valley of Bhaderwah from Punjab and Himachal side,” the GREF spokesman maintained.
