Women’s woes

Sir,
On the one hand, we boast of women joining as pilots and army officers, on the other hand we hang our heads in shame, while viewing the horrible scenes of sexual harrassment and heinous crimes committed against well educated women especially in top metroes of the country. Some educated office going women have fallen into the death trap of callous in-laws, who do away with their precious-lives. Some women being fed up with height of cruelities inflicted upon them by their husband end their lives either by drowning or consuming some insecticides. These shameful stories of crimes against women reveal that the Indian society that gave highest respect to “Nari” in ancient India is now being treated worse than a slave. Our imagination staggers when we hear the teen age  girls being tortured and harrassed by young goons. The attack on their modesty has become a regular feature now, with the Govt taking such serious matters in a lighter vein. Unless the Govt takes stringent steps to save this sensitive sex, the female population shall decrease day by day.  The fast track courts with female staff, established in every district must settle the female disputes quickly. NGO’s have also to play a vital role by educating youth to show respect to  women and go on for dowryless marriages. The  civil society has also to sensitize  the callous -in-laws and to imprison them if they tease women on dowry issue.
Our State is no exception where the crimes against women are on the rise.
Yours etc….
