This has reference to the Women’s Day which was celebrated throughout the country. As usual the day highlighted the problems faced by the women in the country and their struggle for their due rights. The 33 percent reservation issue which has been pending for last several years, it seems have no takers yet. The politicians are maintaining a studied silence on the issue, with some expressing mere lip sympathy. In his address at the national conference of women legislators, PM Narendra Modi advised women to empower themselves technologically but kept silent on the Women Reservation Bill. The Bill is being opposed by legislators on one pretext or other. These legislators should not dither on the issue, and if they are really concerned about empowering women, they should not create hurdles in passing this Bill in the future.
