JAMMU, Feb 1: Expressing strong resentment against the recent transfers of Lecturers, Masters and Teachers on alleged pick and choose basis, the Women Wing of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum has urged the Governor to issue directions for cancellations of these transfers and adjustments, made by the outgoing Secretary on January 27.
“Instead of adjusting those Masters and Lecturers, who are without posting since their repatriation from erstwhile Doda, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi districts after serving 3 to 5 years there, orders of adjustment of around one hundred people were hurriedly issued by the outgoing Secretary on the same day of her own transfers to other department,” said Meera Sharma, district president of JKTF Women Wing, while addressing a press conference, here today.
She also raised the issue of recent Government order on immediate cancellation of all attachments/deployments in the School Education Department and said that detachments at the peak of academic session were hampering studies of the students in various Government schools. “Further, because of all detachments, some Teachers, Masters and Lecturers, who are handicapped or suffering from chronic diseases, are also aggrieved and the Government must revoke this order immediately allowing the teaching staff to work till the end of academic session,” she added.
Kamini Sharma, chief spokesperson of the unit, also drew attention towards newly promoted Masters and Lecturers, who are still awaiting their adjustment. “The Governor should personally look into the grievances of teaching community which has been suffering for the last two years because of the nexus between corrupt politicians and bureaucrats,” she said.
