‘Women Help Desks’ inaugurated in 7 police stations

REASI, Apr 24: In order to make police more accessible and ‘woman-sensitive’, ‘Women Help Desks’ were inaugurated throughout the district in seven police stations.
In Police Station Reasi, Women Help Desk was inaugurated by SSP Reasi Shailender Singh alongwith Sunita Kanchan, Chief Planning Officer Reasi, Jyotsana Sarkar DFO Reasi, Monika Sharma, Women Welfare Officer Reasi, Priti Santal Member Child Welfare Committee and Incharge One Stop Centre for Women, Rita Devi, District Coordinator Mahila Shakti Kendra Reasi, women police officers and other officers.
In Police Station Mahore, Women Help Desk was inaugurated by SDPO Mohore alongwith officers and officials of Police Station Mahore, whereas in Arnas, Women Help Desk was inaugurated by concerned SDPO alongwith women folk from Arnas area.
DySP Headquarters Reasi along with Prof Bindu Sharma of Environmental Sciences and Prof Sapna Sharma of Hindi of Government Degree College Pouni and Daljeet Kour, Headmaster Government Higher Secondary School Pouni inaugurated the Women Help Desk in Police Station Pouni.
For Ransoo area, ‘Woman Help Desk’ was inaugurated in Police Station Ransoo by DySP DAR Reasi alongwith Narinder Kour, Teacher of Physical Education in Government Higher Secondary School Ransoo, Jyoti Sharma and Toshi Devi Teachers High School Puran Jagir Ransoo.
Women Help Desk for Katra area was inaugurated in Police Station Katra by SSP Reasi alongwith Renu Bhasin Project Officer-Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Reasi, SP Katra, SDPO Katra and other officers.
In Police Station Bhawan, Women Help Desk was inaugurated by SDPO Bhawan alongwith other police officials.
On this occasion, SSP Reasi informed that this initiative of Government will help women for reporting at single point of contact while walking into their nearest police station. Incharges of these Help Desks are trained to manage women related cases, he added.
“Necessary training, orientation and sensitisation of the staff deployed at these Help Desks will be the priority of Reasi Police. It will be a helping hand for the women in need and will definitely help to curb crime against women”, SSP informed.
