KATRA, June 11: A middle aged woman pilgrim from Lucknow died this evening after she was hit by a shooting stone at Panchi Morh near Sanjichat area enroute Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
The woman has been identified as Daya Devi wife of Hari Chand of Subash Nagar Lucknow. After being hit by the shooting stone, she fell into an adjoining gorge and reportedly died on the spot.
Immediately after the incident, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board authorities temporarily closed the new track in view of heavy rains and landslides in the ecologically sensitive zone of Sanjichat. The Shrine Board has also advised pilgrims to exercise extra care while to reach the cave shrine in view of bad weather.
