Woman killed in road mishap

JAMMU, Sept 11: A woman was killed in a road mishap in Chatha area of city outskirts.
“The mishap occurred late last night at Chatha where a speeding Jeep hit a scooter due to which the pillion rider of the scooter, Anita Kour (35) wife of Balwinder Singh, resident of Govindpur (Chatha), fell down and received serious head injury”, a police official said.
He said Chatha police immediately rushed the injured woman to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
“Today after postmortem the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Satwari and accused Jeep driver namely Suraj Singh son of Jagir Singh, resident of Chatha, arrested”, the official added.
