Woman killed in bike-oil tanker collision

JAMMU, Aug 25: A woman was killed today in the collision of a bike and an oil-tanker in Jhajjar Kotli area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, a speeding oil tanker bearing registration number JK17-6145 hit a bike (registration number JK21F-0533) on new Domail-Katra road in the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli at about 10: 50 AM. He said in the mishap, bike rider escaped unhurt while pillion rider, Zatun Bibi (35) wife of Manzoor Ahmed, resident of Khadan Magna of Purmandal area in Samba district, received serious injuries.
“The injured woman was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” the official said, adding that after postmortem the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
He said that a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli while both the vehicles involved in the mishap were seized and the accused tanker driver, Ranjeet Singh son of Hem Raj, resident of Palmar, Kishtwar, was arrested.
