RAJOURI, Dec 6: A car of Eeco make fell into a ditch here this evening leaving a woman dead and eight others including 3 children injured.
The mishap occurred at Mandir Gala area, 40 km from Rajouri on Rajouri-Budhal road.
The injured were admitted to GMC Rajouri for treatment.
According to police, all the victims were members of a family and were going to Kandi in the ill fated car bearing number JK11-4443 when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve in the dark and the vehicle fell into a 50 feet deep gorge.
Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot and informed police which shifted the injured to GMC Rajouri where doctors declared a woman as brought dead while others were undergoing treatment till last reports.
As per Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed the deceased was identified as Razia Begum, 50, wife of Chandi Khan resident of Hubby.
The injured were Nagina Begum wife of Mohd Farooq; 3 year old Aliza son of Mohd Farooq; Mohd Farooq son of Mishri Khan; 3 year old Farhan Farooq son of Mohd Farooq-all residents of Hubbi; Mohd Shakeel son of Hasan Mohd; Mohd Taj son of Hasan Mohd; Salima Begum wife of Mohd Shakeel and 4 year old Mohd Faizan son of Mohd Shakeel-all resident of Kha.
The injured were stated to be out of danger.
DC Rajouri visited GMC Rajouri and met the injured and took stock of facilities being provided to them.
He instructed the Medical Superintendent to provide best treatment to all the injured.
Police has registered a case and started investigation and body of the deceased woman was been kept in mortuary for postmortem.
