Woman jumps into Tawi

JAMMU, Dec 7: A young woman today made an abortive attempt on her life allegedly by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“A 22-year-old woman identified as Anuradha wife of Balwant Raj, a resident of Chhatisgarh tonight jumped into River Tawi from the main bridge and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
They said the flying squad gypsy deployed in Jewel Chowk area immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the woman. The injured woman was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was unfit for statement but stable.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station Nowabad and investigations are under way.
