KATHUA, Nov 19: A woman was seriously injured after the Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire and targeted the residential houses in Manyari village in Hiranagr sector of Kathua district with heavy firing and mortar shelling late last night.
According to reports some houses were also damaged partially in the shelling. It said a woman was seriously injured after mortar shell hit her house. She has been identified as Nisha Devi, 41, wife of Pawan Kumar of Manyari. She was shifted to Kathua Hospital where from she was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialized treatment as she had received mortar shell injuries. Click here to watch video
The local residents, while expressing their anger over the ceasefire violation by Pakistan and targeting of civilian areas said it has been a routine practice of the enemy. Tarseem Lal, a local resident said the firing started at 10 pm last night and continued till this morning creating panic among the residents of the village and surrounding areas.
Pawan Kumar, another resident of the village said that they were sleeping in the bunker when mortars targeted their house and bunker as well. A splinter of the mortar hit a woman sleeping in the bunker. He said his house and house hold items were also damaged in the shelling.
Some nearby houses were partially damaged, he added.
An old person Des Raj sobbed that under such circumstances when the bunkers are also not safe for people, how could they live there under the shadow of death. He alleged that the Government was not taking any concrete steps for their safety and security.
He said that the tall claims of the politicians and bureaucrats that they are working for the betterment of borer people round the clock have proved totally hollow as the situation on ground is different and these claims have proved hollow.
