UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: A young woman died after allegedly consuming some poisonous substance while another made unsuccessful attempt on her life in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district today.
A police spokesman said that Anju Devi (27), wife of Kuldeep Singh, resident of Majori in Ramnagar, consumed some poisonous substance at her residence. The family members noticed her in serious condition and vomiting, and rushed her to Sub District Hospital, Ramnagar where doctors referred her to District Hospital Udhampur in serious condition. The doctors gave treatment here but she died later. The body was sent for postmortem.
Meanwhile, official sources said that Nisha Devi (35), wife of Sudesh Singh of village Birnoo in Ramnagar, consumed some poisonous substance at her residence today. The family members spotted her in serious condition and rushed to the Ramnagar hospital. The doctor provided treatment and referred her to Udhampur. Her condition was said to be stable, the sources added.
The police has started investigation.
