KATHUA, Nov 20: A young woman died due to burn injuries under mysterious circumstances in Billawar area of district Kathua today.
A police spokesman said that 25-year-old Swarna Devi, wife of Darshan Kumar resident of Seri Moni village near Parnala received about 90 % burn injuries under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws’ house late last evening. She was removed to Billawar hospital where doctors referred her to GMC Jammu last night. She was being further shifted to Ludhiana this morning but succumbed to injuries on the way.
The body was brought back to Billawar hospital and after postmortem, it was handed over to the family for last rites. She survived with two and half year old male child. The members of the inlaws’ family claimed that she was holding a kerosene lamp and fell down. Her clothes caught fire in the accident and she was trapped in flames.
The police, however, registered a case under Section 174 CrPC and started investigation.
