Woman dies cases stay above 700

JAMMU, July 31: A woman died of COVID-19 while cases in Jammu and Kashmir stayed above 700. Ladakh reported 10 new cases, all in Leh district.
Lone fatality and 210 cases were logged in the Jammu division while 494 positives were registered in the Kashmir valley.
A 54-year-old woman hailing from village Chak Kahna in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district died of co-morbidities and virus at the Military Hospital Satwari.
This has taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2342. Jammu district has highest number of 1231 casualties followed by 249 in Rajouri, 169 Kathua, 148 Udhampur, 144 Doda, 126 Samba, 111 Poonch, 69 Ramban, 49 Reasi and 46 in Kishtwar district.
Among 210 new cases in Jammu division, 124 were recorded in Jammu district, 22 in Kishtwar, 14 Doda, 10 each in Udhampur and Rajouri districts, nine each in Poonch and Ramban, eight in Kathua and two each in Samba and Reasi districts.
Jammu and Kashmir now has 4859 active positive cases including 1788 in Jammu and 3071 in Kashmir.
In Jammu region, Jammu district has highest number of 1090 active positive cases followed by 134 in Doda, 119 in Kishtwar, 93 Rajouri, 85 Udhampur, 71 Kathua, 70 Poonch, 67 Samba, 46 Ramban and 13 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, Ladakh recorded 10 fresh COVID cases that took the infection tally to 28,871.
All the new cases were recorded in Leh district.
So far, 228 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ladakh. Of these, 168 deaths were reported from Leh and 60 from Kargil, according to officials.
The number of active cases stands at 123 in Ladakh – 108 in Leh and 15 from Kargil.
A total of 746 sample reports were tested in Ladakh, of which 632 in Leh and 103 in Kargil were found to be negative, officials said.
Twenty patients were cured and discharged from hospitals, taking the overall recoveries to 28,511.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 494 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Srinagar reported 205 cases, Baramulla 131, Budgam 41, Pulwama 0, Kupwara 42, Anantnag 37, Bandipora 24, Ganderbal 7 and Kulgam 7.
