Woman dies, 59 infected in Ladakh; 314 new cases in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Feb 15: A woman died and 59 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh while for second consecutive day today, no Corona casualties were recorded in Jammu and Kashmir where 314 fresh infections were detected.
An 87-year-old woman hailing from Takmachik in Leh district died of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh today taking Corona toll to 227 including 168 in Leh and 59 in Kargil district.
Out of 59 fresh COVID positive cases in Ladakh, 35 were registered in Leh district and 24 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 522 active positive cases—395 in Leh and 127 in Kargil.
In Jammu division, 188 new cases were reported today including highest 67 in Jammu district followed by 52 in Doda, 20 Kathua, 14 Udhampur, 10 Ramban, nine each in Rajouri and Samba, six Kishtwar and one in Reasi district.
Poonch district didn’t report any new cases today.
An official of Mission Youth Department (MYD), three persons at Narwal Sabzi Mandi and two at General Bus Stand tested positive for the virus in Jammu today.
As against 188 new cases, 445 recovered from the virus bringing down number of active positive cases to 1851.
Jammu division now has 1,64,852 Corona cases.
Among them, 1,60,678 have recovered from the virus while there were 2323 casualties.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 126 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 63 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 22 from Budgam, 3 from Pulwama, 13 from Kupwara, 5 from Anantnag, 1 from Bandipora, 6 from Ganderbal and 3 from Kulgam.
With the fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 286,478 including 281,627 recoveries and 2,422 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,280 including 2,429 from Kashmir division.
With 937 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 451,330 which is 98.003 percent of the total cases.
