KATHUA, Mar 14: A young woman was knocked to death by a speeding truck at Lakhanpur area this evening, police said.
They said the tragic incident happened when a speedy truck (JK13F-7675) that was on its way from Jammu towards Punjab hit one Tripta Devi wife of Shashi Pal of Matandi, Lakhanpur, resulting in injuries to the woman.
She was taken to Government Medical College Kathua where doctors declared her as dead on arrival, police said.
Police have arrested the accused truck driver identified as Mohammad Shafi of Pampore, Pulwama, and seized the vehicle used in the commission of the offence besides registering a case under the relevant sections of the law.
