DODA, July 17: A woman allegedly committed suicide today by jumping into River Chenab at Thathri.
As per police sources, a woman identified as Parveena Begum, wife of Ashiq Hussain, a resident of village Kalotrian, tehsil Gandoh of Doda, allegedly ended her life by jumping into River Chenab at Thathri, today morning.
After getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and with the help of SDRF team started operation to retrieve the body of the woman from the river.
The body of the deceased woman could not be recovered due to strong currents in the river and the rescue operation was suspended late in the evening due to darkness. Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
