KATHUA, Mar 30: A woman and a child died after falling into a dug well in village Gurha Karyal, Ramkote 55 kilometres from here today.
According to police, Ganesh, a seven year boy fell in a dug well and in order to rescue him, Neelam Devi age 20 years also jumped into the well. Instead of rescuing the boy, the woman drowned into the deep waters of the well and died.
In the morning, people saw their bodies and informed police who took them to Billawar Hospital, where doctor pronounced them brought dead.
The bodies were handed over to the family members after conducting the post-mortem. Police has initiated the proceeding under Section 174 CrPC at Ramkote Police Station.
