JAMMU, Sept 2: A woman was among two persons who succumbed to Coronavirus today while 274 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region in addition to 300 who reported positive in the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in various Government offices, Banks, markets and residential areas in Jammu district today even as 92 more patients were treated and discharged from COVID hospitals of the region.
While 200 persons tested positive during RAT in urban areas of Jammu district, 100 cases were reported from rural best.
The urban area positives in RAT include Shuhul Motors Mahindra Narwal Bypass (6), Shuhul Motors Hyundai Narwal Bypass (8), MG Hector Narwal Bypass (18), AM Hyundai Malik Market (10), KIA Motors Narwal Bypass (2), Ansari Trucking Narwal Bypass (3), Skoda Narwal Channi (2), Jamkash Maruti Channi Bypass (13), Hill View Motors Sidhra (4), Fairdeal Motors Greater Kailash (14), Audi Greater Kailash (1), Peak Motors Kunjwani (1), Hyundai Showroom KC Emporium (2), Pace Hyundai Gandhi Nagar (4), Jammu Motors Canal Road (22), Main Post Office Jewel Chowk (5), Jammu and Kashmir Bank New University Campus Branch (8), Jain Bazaar (16), Rehari Colony (4), Animal Husbandry (5), Naraina Gali Kachi Chawni (18), Dogra Hall (12), Social Welfare Christian Colony (9), Sector 2 Sanjay Nagar (4), Brahmin Mohalla Narwal (4), Near Carmel Convent School (3), Narwal Pain Satwari (2) and Hajipora Last Morh (8).
In rural areas, five persons were found COVID positive in Bishnah, six Dansal, 14 Kot Bhalwal, four Marh, two RS Pura and five Sohanjana among others.
District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla told the Excelsior that a 65-year-old man from Chenani tehsil of Udhampur district died today of Coronavirus and has been cremated as per the protocol. The man was admitted in Chest diseases Department of Super Specialty Hospital on August 21 and was shifted to the GMC Jammu on August 26 where he died this morning. He was co-morbid and Corona positive.
Dr Singla said aggressive Rapid Antigen Testing has been launched in parts of Udhampur district. As many as 700 samples were taken today, he added. Apart from one death, eight fresh positive cases were reported from Udhampur including one CRPF jawan, two civilians from Court Road and one each from Housing Colony, Badola Jib, Jaganoo, Latti and Chenani.
A 50-year-old woman from Pashwal Lashwara in Bishnah tehsil of Jammu district who was suffering for surgery related ailments and was positive for Coronavirus also died in the GMC today, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
Two fresh deaths today has taken COVID tally of Jammu region to 75 and that of Jammu district to 50. Other deaths include five in Rajouri district, four each Kathua, Doda and Poonch districts, three each in Udhampur and Samba districts and one each in Ramban and Kishtwar districts.
A total of 167 persons have tested COVID positive in Jammu district, as per the official figures.
Sixteen persons reported Corona positive in Reasi district including four police personnel from Katra police station, a State Bank of India (SBI) Branch Manager hailing from Bakshi Nagar and one from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. Seven other positives of the district were contacts of positive patients and rest travelers.
Kathua district today reported 19 new Coronavirus cases, Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat said.
Of them, six were travelers, one contact of positive case and 12 who were subjected to random testing including a pregnant woman from GMC Kathua.
Fourteen positive cases were today reported from Poonch district, mostly with travel history, SSP Ramesh Angral said.
The positive cases belonged to eight from Surankote, three from Poonch and rest Gholad Mendhar, Galhutla, Sakhi Maidaan and Behra Mendhar.
Of 14 positives in Rajouri district, six hailed from Sunderbani, three Nowshera, two Rajouri and one Kalakote. Two positives were CRPF personnel. SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli today turned negative more than a week after testing positive for the virus.
Five CRPF personnel were among seven persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in Ramban district, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat said.
Fourteen persons including four travelers and 10 locals were tested positive for the virus in Samba district, eight in Doda and seven Kishtwar.
Of 92 persons who were treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region, 40 hailed from Jammu district, 16 Rajouri, 11 Poonch, nine each Kathua and Kishtwar, five Ramban and one each in Udhampur and Doda districts.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has 9296 COVID cases. Of them, only 2495 are active as 6726 have been treated and discharged while there have been 75 casualties.
Meanwhile, 52 new Corona positive cases were today reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh including 40 from Leh and 12 in Kargil district taking Corona tally in the UT to 2789—1517 in Leh and 1268 Kargil and active cases to 743—481 Leh and 262 Kargil while 2007 patients have recovered.
There have been 35 casualties in Ladakh including 13 in Leh and 22 in Kargil.
