JAMMU, Feb 21: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA), today urged upon the State authorities to withdraw teachers from non-academic duties, specially under COVID-19 at Lakhanpur and Railway Stations.
In a meeting of the USTA held under the chairmanship of Roop Chand, District president at Palli Morh, Kathua the members discussed the problems being faced by the teaching community. They demanded to withdraw teachers from all types of non-academic duties especially under COVID-19 pandemic at Lakhanpur and various Railway Stations in the region.
They further demanded to make proper allocation of budget to release pending salary and other arrears of teachers/ masters working under Centrally Sponsored Schemes now Samagra Siksha. They also sought release of grants to clear cash-in-lieu of retired persons.
The USTA further demanded to introduce pre-primary class by providing additional teachers and infrastructure in all schools having primary classes as the admission age in Government schools is five years whereas, it is three years in private schools. They also demanded to adjust all the left out newly promoted lecturers in various subjects who are waiting for their adjustments for the last 16 months.
The speakers also demanded regularization of all in-charge Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEOs and other officers of the Education Department working in their own pay and grade since long; repatriate/transfer on priority all Teachers, Masters, Lecturers and Headmasters who have completed much more than their tenure in far-flung areas as well as out of their district; fill up all existing vacant posts of Masters, Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEOs, Principals and non-teaching staff by way of DPC; create Master- grade posts for Upper Primary schools as per RMSA pattern; convert all left out ReTs into teachers grade II and III as per SAC decision, accord senior teacher grade to trained undergraduate teachers and restore the Old Pension Scheme for all employees and teachers appointed after 01/01/2010.
While speaking on the occasion Provincial general secretary Hari Singh expressed his great concern over the lackadaisical and non-serious attitude of the Government towards these long pending demands.
Senior members Ganesh Dutt, Bali Mohd, Netar Chand, Ramesh Chand, Rakesh Kumar, Mohinder Lal, Mohd Ali, Keval Krishan and Vijay Kumar were also present.
