NEW DELHI, May 7: Delhi Police today told a court here that they will tomorrow file the charge sheet against two suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives who were arrested last year in connection with a case relating to a plan to carry out terror attacks in the national Capital.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police said this before Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash who extended the judicial custody of the two accused Mohd Rashid and Mohd Shahid till tomorrow.
The accused were produced before the court which had earlier dismissed their pleas seeking bail on the ground that the charge sheet was not filed against them.
The court had also granted time to the police to conclude its probe against the accused by today.
The police had sought time saying absconding accused Abdul Subhan, who was allegedly in touch with Pakistan-based top LeT terrorist Javed Baluchi, was yet to be arrested.
During the hearing today, the police told the court that the charge sheet against the accused was ready and they would file it tomorrow.
Both the accused were arrested in December last year from Haryana’s Mewat region.
With their arrest, the police had claimed to have unearthed a terror module of LeT which was at an “advanced stage” of planning a major strike in Delhi.
Regarding Baluchi, it had said intelligence agencies had provided information in November last year that Baluchi was contacted on his Pakistani mobile number from Rajasthan and there were conversations regarding a conspiracy to carry out a terror strike in India.
It had claimed Rashid had told the investigators about LeT’s plan to execute a terror strike “on the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition”.
According to the police, after their arrest, Rashid and Shahid had claimed that they had met two persons in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar region after the riots. (PTI)
